OK, so I’m not the big jersey/merch/logo expert. I have enough trouble covering the hockey team to keep up with the jersey stuff. My son is the real expert on this stuff. But, apparently, Fanatics posted a photo of many NHL third jerseys for the upcoming season and then deleted it. Of course, a hockey fanatic took a screenshot of it and posted it. These, maybe anyway, are the Colorado Avalanche third jersey design for 2022-23. They were first published by sportslogos.net, and our San Jose Hockey Now correspondent Sheng Peng also spotted them early and wrote an article yesterday about the cool design of the Sharks, reminiscent of the old colors of the California Golden Seals.
It looks a lot like the old Colorado Rockies logo – the hockey team, not the baseball team. This is another shade of red I’ve ever seen on an Avalanche uniform, but maybe I’m wrong on that.
There had been rumors that the upcoming third jersey would have a Colorado Rockies theme. This team wasn’t exactly a runaway success, with a best-of-three playoff appearance in its six-year history (1976-82). But the uniforms were still cool.
No doubt whatever the design of the third jersey, it will sell like hotcakes. Pretty much anything with the Colorado Avalanche logo sells these days. Personally, I would have liked the team to keep the third Quebec Nordiques jerseys longer. Many people never had the chance to get one, due to pandemic-related supply chain issues. They were only used during the 56-game season a few years ago. I still get the occasional email or DM asking if they can be found anywhere.
