Raleigh, North Carolina – There is no shortage of family events this weekend. Here are some of our choices:
Blippi The Musical (Durham Performing Arts Center, 123 Vivian Street, Durham) – Blippi The Musical brings the energetic and lovable character Blippi off-screen and onto the stage with world-class production, audience engagement and incredible music. See the show on Saturday at DPAC.
Durham Bulls Ball Hockey Night (Durham Bulls Sports Park, 409 Blackwell Street, Durham) – Hockey Night returns to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on September 10. Bulls players and coaches will wear special rod-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off to benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. Stormy and the Hurricanes’ warning siren should be at the ballpark.
40th Annual Apex PeakFest (Historic Downtown Apex, N Salem St & Center St, Apex) – This annual festival celebrates everything Apex on Saturdays on Salem Street. The event will feature vendors, music and food.
NC Sugar Rush (Durham Central Park Pavilion, 501 Foster St, Durham) – This all-dessert food truck rodeo will take place on Saturday at Durham Central Park from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
47th Annual Myrtle Crepe Celebration (Angier Depot Square, 19 West Depot Street, Angier) – This annual festival will be held in downtown Angier on Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food, vendors and live music. In addition, there will be a special Kidsville area with rides and games.
Best of North Hills: Fall Concert Series (Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park @ North Hills, 4011 Cardinal in North Hills St., Raleigh) – Enjoy some of the area’s best tribute bands at this outdoor concert at Midtown Park in North Hills on Friday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $ 10 and children 13 and under are admitted free.
Bull City RoundUp Food Truck Rodeo & Vendor Market (Suite 4, 506 Ramseur Street, Durham) – Take advantage of this vendor market and this food truck that rolled Saturday from 2pm to 10pm at the Suite Four in Durham.
Marvel Movie Premier Weekend and a double feature film! (Shang-Chi then Free Guy) (Triangle Town Center Mall, 5959 Triangle Town Blvd, Raleigh) – Enjoy two outdoor movies in the parking lot of the Triangle Town Center shopping mall this weekend. There will be a screening of “Shang-Chi” followed by “Free Guy” on Friday and Saturday evenings.
NC International Auto Expo (Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S Salisbury St, Raleigh) – See the latest cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles this weekend at this Friday-Sunday event at the Raleigh Convention Center.
Brunch Moore Market (Moore Square Park, 200 South Blount Street, Raleigh) – The Moore Market Brunch will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Moore Square. There will be farmers, artisans, food trucks and a DJ. Free entry. This event takes place entirely outdoors and masks are suggested for anyone who has not been vaccinated.
The Streetery (Van Alen, 511 South Mangum Street, Durham) – At The Streetery, the organizers close the streets to traffic and open them for alfresco dining. On Saturday, the Streetery will be held at Van Alen and 555 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Face masks should be worn in indoor public places, including restaurants and retail outlets.
