BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The final four athletes to join the Mariners women’s basketball team are Samara Calso, Mieyana Milner, Karla Quintero and Iesha Rhodin. Head Coach Denise Hannah is looking forward to her team competing this season.

Calso is an offensive Swiss army knife. She has the length to play 3 and 4 but also has the ability to handle the ball and shoot from the outside. She attended Poinciana High School where she was first-team All-County and team MVP in 2022.

“Samara Calso is a very talented athlete. She knows how to play 3 and 4 but can also handle the ball. She has great mid-range play and can also shoot the 3,” said Coach Hannah.

Milner joins the Mariners through Truett McConnell. She spent two seasons there and played 19 games. Milner adds a veteran presence to the position and is someone who can hold the paint at both ends of the floor.

“Mieyana Milner comes to us with experience in the post. She will be a great presence in the middle in attack and defense and a great addition to the program,” said Coach Hannah.

The Mariners added another post presence in Quintero who will begin his college career at Coastal Georgia. She wrote the four years she participated in SLAM! Miami and averaged an impressive 13 points and seven rebounds during his high school career.

“Karla Quintero will be a strong and physical position for us. She is a presence in the paint both offensively and defensively who has size, agility and excellent footwork. She has the potential to be an exceptional player in the conference!” Said Coach Hannah.

Rhodin is a smart guard who hails from Everglades High School where she averaged 11.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. She was named a second-team All-County player in her freshman year and helped her team win her school’s first-ever district championship.

“Iesha (pronounced ie-sha) Rhodin brings high IQ to basketball and will add depth to our talented guard position. She plays excellent defense and can knock down shots. She will be a great asset to the program,” said Coach Hannah.
