Signer Paxton Kling drops out of draft

LSU received big diamond news on Wednesday when one of the nation’s top high school players announced he would be removing his name from the 2022 MLB Draft.

Paxton Kling, outfielder and shortstop from Pennsylvania, will enlist in Baton Rouge rather than try his luck in the professional ranks.

Kling comes to LSU with many accolades to his name. Kling is Pennsylvania State’s top rookie and won the state’s 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year award. According to some sites, he is a top 10 prospect nationally, including Prep Baseball Report , which ranks it No. 7.

There should be room for Kling to slip in and play for LSU right away. He will join a team that projects to have one of the best rosters in college baseball and features stars like Dylan Crews and Tre’ Morgan.

If a player like Kling can come in and contribute immediately, then LSU should have no problem competing for not just a trip to Omaha, but winning it all.
