Shay Ciezki said neither of his parents played sports in high school, but believe they must have had a bit of athleticism in their genes.

People have been considering her to be a Division I athlete for quite some time and it will become official next year.

Ciezki, the three-time selection of the St. Mary’s of Lancaster All-Western New York team, announced via Twitter on Friday night that she would be playing college basketball at Penn State.

The 5-foot-7 combo guard verbally agreed to accept an offer from the Big Ten School on openings for the state of North Carolina, Syracuse, Providence and all of the Big Four schools.

She said it was up to Penn State and NC State of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

“I walked into campus and got that feeling,” Ciezki said. “I felt like everyone is saying when you walk into campus. This is what I felt.

Ciezki averaged 24.6 points, 7.4 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game last year. Despite posting impressive numbers, the team have played around 10 games less due to Covid-19 restrictions.

This means that Ciezki’s career 2,000-point pursuit is something that could gain momentum in January. Ciezki, who can score in clusters, has 1370 career points.

She had over 1,000 points after her second season, which was only her second in college. She would need an average of 28.63 points over 22 games to reach 2K.
