This is the biggest high school football entry I have ever seen. Byron HS Linemen runs out of a pig trailer

Welcome back, football in high school. I love it. There is nothing purer than high school football. I know that makes me a psychopath to some extent, but when the calendar rolls over to August I still itch like I should be getting ready for hockey and football season. Like Ray Liotta who talks about baseball in Field Of Dreams. You have just woken up to the smells and sounds of sports in your nose. I think no matter how old you are, and I’m old now, you still miss those days. Waking up and immediately thinking about the game and having chills. Wear your swimsuit to school. As you walk down the halls, you feel like fucking Superman in this swimsuit. A little nod to your teammates as they head to your next class where you pretend to focus on the bullshit the teacher says, but in reality you’re just watching the clock get closer and closer to the kick-off. It’s the best. It’s so pure. Tom Allen spoke about it on Redline Radio a few weeks ago and it got me so excited

And now he’s here for the high school kids. I would never want to go back to HS, but I would kill to run out of a hog trailer once. You will never have that pre-game feeling in your life. I want to grab these children’s faces like in Billy Madison and tell them to cherish it. When you’re an adult and have a big sale or have a great idea for a job or sign a new contract … it feels good, but it’s not the same. Not even close. Nothing looks like this in the real world. And this is from a guy who enjoys his job now and really enjoyed my job before that.

So soak up it. Your season is here. That’s why you lift all the weights. That’s why you do all this shit. That’s why you went through two a day with 110 degree heat. Cherish it. Play the game. Go out with the boys after. Get home at a decent hour, watch highlights from across the state on CLTV, and go to bed because you have to run and lift as a team in the morning.

AND … if your school has an unhealthy tradition like running out of a pig trailer, I want to see it. Send it. We will have it on the blog. This is the first submission we have
