Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Matt Severance, Allie O’Neal, Justin Perri and Allan Bell on the Early edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get the best games for Major League Baseball, NFL, College Football and Soccer for Wednesday, September 8.
The coach highlights the new afternoon schedule of college football and NFL lineup. Matt tells us why Clemson faces a grim outlook in terms of qualifying for the college football playoffs. Allan provides essential information on why kickers can have a major impact on the NFL Week 1 results.
The two SportsLine games of the day come from World Cup qualifying at 2:45 p.m. ET. Recommended choices are Sweden +110 over Greece and England to win and score two goals against Poland at +105.
Allan’s best college football selection is Pittsburgh and Tennessee, which will drop below 57 on Saturday at noon ET. Tennessee are struggling offensively and are facing a solid defense. In the NFL, he takes the Bears and Rams Under 46.5 points Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET. Matt Nagy and Sean McVay have touched the Under in recent clashes and Chicago goes with Andy Dalton in Game 1.
Allie rolls with the Rays in the first five innings at -105 against the Red Sox at 7:10 p.m. ET. Boston is slipping and Tampa Bay is playing very well on the road. Justin is considering the same game, taking the total to go over 9.5 points. It reveals trends that strongly support the recovery. Justin then delivers his NFL Week 1 picks, including the Jaguars and Texans Plus by 44.5 points. Both teams will continue to appear very vulnerable in defense. His NFL Week 1 parlay features the Buccaneers, 49ers and Rams.
Matt’s best game in MLB is the +130 Rockies vs. the Giants at 3:10 p.m. ET. “I think they’re due,” he says of Colorado. “The Giants haven’t had a day off for almost three weeks. I think they will be resting a few regulars today. Anthony DeSclafani has a 6.26 ERA during the day. Jon Gray has been better at home and during the day. In college football, he will face South Carolina against East Carolina on Saturday at noon ET. The Gamecocks will benefit from key returns in the backfield. Matt is also on Michigan -6 against Washington on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. It’s a long journey for the Huskies, who looked terrible last week.
