Auburn topped the competition in their region, scoring 51 points in the three games they played.
This would lead many to believe that the Tigers would soar to the top of the super regional team standings.
This turned out to be wrong, as Auburn landed in tenth place.
Usually when you hear the term power ranking it leads you to believe that it is based on recent performance. Auburn would have been much higher than ten on the list if that had been the case.
There are a few teams ranked higher than Auburn, like Louisville and North Carolina, that have struggled to get out of their region.
Hopefully the team can use those rankings to fuel the fire as they prepare to travel to Corvallis for a three-game set with the Oregon State Beavers.
Auburn’s baseball team has been in doubt all season long, but that hasn’t stopped them from getting to where they are now.
Let’s take a look at the full standings of the 16 teams in the super regional round.
14. Notre Dame
12. Miss of the South
11. Texas A&M
9. North Carolina
7. Ole Miss
4. Oregon State
3. State of Virginia
The Super Regional weekend will be great fun for the entire college baseball community. By this time next week, we’ll know the eight teams that will get plane tickets to Omaha, Nebraska.
Hopefully Auburn can take care of business in Oregon and punch their ticket to Omaha.
Game 1 of the series with Oregon State will be played Saturday, June 11 at 9 p.m. CT. The game can be watched on ESPN2.
